Homeopathy for Bites and Stings

It’s summer and we love to be outside, but bites and stings from mosquitos, wasps, bees or spiders can be irritating and painful. If you get bitten or stung by an insect, see which remedy best suits your situation and symptoms:
Always seek medical help if you suspect a severe reaction to a bite or sting.

Aconite
If Aconite is needed, there will be rapid, intense symptoms following the bite or sting. The patient will be restless, fearful and anxious. They may feel very thirsty.
Apis
For Apis the site of the sting will be puffy. The swelling will be warm and either white or rosy pink in colour. There will be prickling, stinging pains that are improved by cold applications.
Lachesis
The skin around bite or sting will be hot and look dark red or blue–purple.
Hypericum
This remedy is known for its soothing effect on injuries to nerve-rich body areas such as fingertips. It is also useful after puncture wounds, including bites and stings. Shooting pains or pains with numbness and tingling often are experienced when Hypericum is needed.

Cantharis
If you have intense burning pain following insect bites such as from wasps, Cantharis is the remedy to try. It relieves pain and promotes healing in burns. The pain of a Cantharis burn is intense, and the skin may blacken or blister. It is also helpful for itchy sunburn.
